As a compassionate and empathetic person who finds value in helping others, I was naturally drawn to helping people with their mental health. I am an energetic person who enjoys learning about people, and how they experience life. I want to ensure that those who come see me feel safe, validated, and heard.

I take a holistic approach to therapy focusing on physical, social and psychological well-being. I have eight years of social work experience before starting my Masters degree to diversify my skill set.

I work with clients experiencing: Depression Anxiety Trauma Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) Substance-Use disorder

I prioritize my client’s safety and well-being when working with clients. Clients can expect to be welcomed with an empathetic and compassionate session. It is truly a privilege to hold space for those who chose to trust in me. My sessions are held virtually through a safe and secure modality where you are able to participate in therapy.

My philosophy is to work collaboratively with my clients to create long lasting change and overall healthy mental health.

I work from a trauma-informed practice using a strength-based, solution focused perspective. I am trained in cognitive-behavioural and narrative therapy. Working With Me: 1. I love the fluidity and collaborative nature of the therapeutic relationship. I want to work with my clients from a place of joint effort, rather than the traditional medical model where it seems that one size fits all. 2. I enjoy the variety of emotions that come up during a therapeutic session. Although therapy can be difficult, it can also be humorous, enlightening, and foster resiliency. The resiliency of my clients is always inspiring to myself. We are not afraid to laugh! 3. There is no wrong way to attend therapy, I will meet you where you are at, and walk alongside you on your journey.

Outside of the Office I have a dog and cat (Suki and Simba), who I consider my fur children. Suki is a samoyed (extremely white and fluffy). We enjoy hiking and snuggling. I am also a personal trainer who teaches a variety of fitness classes, kickboxing, spin, and circuit training. I find this great for stress-relief and keeping my endorphins up! Although I love adventuring, I am just as happy being at home with a good book, my animals and my partner watching the latest show on Netflix

I am looking to improve the day-to-day experience in the lives of those I work with or interact with in life. I am a compassionate, understanding, and non-judgemental person, who loves connecting and talking with people in a deeper manner. I have an approachable energy and have been told that I make people feel comfortable sharing more intimate details of their lives.

I have experience working with clients suffering from stress, anxiety, depressed mood, irritability, insecurity, guilt, and hopelessness. I have also worked with cliental experiencing relationship difficulties, flashbacks of traumatic events, thoughts of suicide, nightmares, and difficulties sleeping. In therapy together, we will take moments to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and physical reactions. We will work to create a trusting relationship, where I listen to you with compassion.

I aim to develop a kind space where we can approach your unique experience with genuine curiosity. I like to explore and reflect your experience in your subjective perspective, and work on understanding you before rushing into solutions. Drawing from client-centred, ACT, and CBT, my focus is cultivating your self-acceptance and self-compassion to help you develop a better relationship with your “negative” thoughts and feelings. From mindfulness and breathing activities in-session, to techniques and coping strategies to use at home, we will work to make you become more aligned with your values and ideal self.

I have a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology and I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario.

Outside of the office, I love spending time socializing with my friends and family. I have always been extremely extroverted, but I also love the outdoors, and being adventurous. So naturally, my favourite activities include socializing during activities such as hiking, camping, skiing, skating, volleyball, dancing, and spending time on the beach. I love learning new recipes and having board game nights. My favourite game is euchre, and I could play this every day of the week, if it were possible.

As a compassionate and curious person, working in a helping profession has always the sort of role I was attracted to. The therapy relationship is one that is so unique and my genuine interest in people and their stories was what drew me to this field. I appreciate the opportunity to really get to know clients in this setting and understand them from a historical perspective. Learning about both positive and negative experiences over their lifetime helps me to understand who they are and what informed some of the challenges they may be experiencing today.

I work with clients experiencing:

Transitions, Anxiety, Depression, Relationship challenges, Perinatal mental health challenges, Trauma, Neurodiversity, Challenges in parenting and those looking to discover the therapy process for the first time.

One of the most satisfying aspects of my role is the opportunity to walk along side clients who have a genuine commitment to change. They want to leave counselling better then they came in. What this looks like is as individual as every client I see but what remains consistent is my privilege to hold space for them to explore what possibilities are out there and have it realized with them. When a client works with me, they can expect a genuine relationship. I am sincerely supporting them through every stage of their healing and goal attaining journey. I am honored for the position of trust and support offered to me in this collaborative work together.

Over 90% of my clients return for at least 12 sessions.

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.” – Nido Qubein

I use a dynamic and personalized approach to therapy including cognitive Behaviour therapy, didactical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, somatic and client focused. It is important for me to share with clients the tools in my toolbox that can better equip them to manage their challenging circumstances and flourish despite difficulties. I utilize psychoeducation so clients can understand both the why’s and how’s of therapy. It is important for me that my clients are well equipped to increase their strategies and in turn their confidence. Most importantly is my desire for clients to be well understood.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts - The University Of Guelph Masters of Counselling Psychology - Yorkville University

Training and certification highlights:

Working with me:

1- I love to laugh with clients. I like to think therapy, while at times, very challenging, can also feel good. 2- In my work with clients internationally I have observed how very similar we all are in so many ways. I have supported clients through very human situations. I believe the things that make us unique are so often our biggest strengths. 3- There are so many right ways to show up and do life. I love to help clients feel at home in themselves and celebrate authenticity.

A little about me… I prefer books over shows, tea over coffee and vanilla over chocolate. If there was one book I would want to recommend to every client it would be Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning. The most empowering thing we can do to claim back our power is to find meaning in our experiences.

I am passionate about the mental health field because I am confident that it is a critical and commonly overlooked component of one’s idea of holistic well-being. The idea of being able to inspire a person to motivate themselves while instilling in them new resources to improve their own phycological well-being is the driving force that pushes me in my career. I utilize objective reasoning and apply critical thinking with my approach to obtaining a professional relationship with my clients. This practice and ideology has left me sincerely motivated with regards to my focus with clients.

I work with:

Specializing in Gender Identity, Anxiety/Depression, Addiction, Concurrent Disorders, Grief Support, Emotional Regulation and Relationships. I am trained in a variety of therapies including Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

My Mental Health Philosophy?

I possess a strong belief that every individual has room for growth. Every person is unique, beautiful, and inspiring, but can also become stuck, unhappy, and unable to live a fulfilling life. My passion and goals are to meet you wherever you happen to be in life and walk along side you on your journey to help you achieve success in your own individual pursuit of happiness.

Education and Credentials:

Honours Bachelor of Social Work - Algoma University Master of Social Work - Laurentian University Concurrent Disorder Certificate Program - University of Toronto

I am solution focused. I know every single person has strengths and I am able to help you find yours and use them to the best of your ability to achieve the goals you are seeking. I have worked in many fields with very diverse populations throughout my carrier, from corrections to family and children and hospital settings. My diverse work experience and skills to tailor my approach to what will work best for each person allows me to meet you where you are to walk with you on your journey to where you want to be. People in general are my passion and I truly believe that every person can be exactly what they want and need to be. I love to be that person you take on your journey of growth so that we can celebrate all your accomplishments together.

“Practicing what you preach” and “leading by example” are two philosophies that I constantly exercise outside of the office. Life has no guarantees and withholds absolute certainty. I intend to live my life, accordingly, walking through its paces knowing and understanding that it is not some “static thing”. I believe that it is ever evolving and unpredictable with regards to the idea that we have no absolute controls over the unpredictable factors surrounding it. In my own life, I constantly reinforce the practice of enjoying life’s little moments. By doing so, I can fully experience and appreciate my time on this earth and the people I have the privilege to share it with.
